I have decided [EDIT]

that on Saturday I am going to put on afternoon/high tea. I like saying, "High Tea" rather than "Afternoon Tea" because high tea just sounds cooler and like a more unique event whereas afternoon tea just sounds mundane and typical. Edit: My apologies. High tea and Afternoon tea are two very different things. High tea has like meat and eggs and is more meal like, whereas afternoon tea is just as pictured left. High tea is just more fun (and easier) to say...

But yes, Saturday, high tea at my apartment! And it's going to be legit - or at least as legit as the resources available to a starving artist/college student permits. Or the taste. Why would I ruin a perfectly good chicken sandwich with pine nuts? That makes me think of pine needles, which then makes me think of the infamous cat litter sandwich from the Little Rascals. We do NOT want that, we want this.

Anyhow, I'm going to get a fancy three-level plate (if I find one cheap. If not, I have a torch and know where Baylor keeps their metal rods. Build it and they will come - I now picture myself having high tea with pairs of animals). I am going to make chicken sandwiches, cucumber mint sandwiches, ham/parmigiano sandwiches, smoked salmon and dill cream cheese sandwiches (hold the salmon, probably), dundee/madeira cake (whichever is cheaper/available...), mini chocolate eclairs(!!), and Victorian sponge sandwiches. I found a website with the recipes. And we will have lots of tea (samples courtesy of the Baylor dining hall)! I'm also going to have to hold off on the fancy china, as I have none. It will be more fun with all the awesome mismatched mugs Jenni and I have - like the Central Perk on FRIENDS. And, to the side of the fancy three tiered plate, I might have all the extra sandwich stuff available on Hawaiian roles. And oreos. Because I'm not European.

Aaaaaaand that picture is from my first high tea in Ireland. Doesn't it look dreamy? Hmm, they had more sweet things. I think I will throw in, or substitute, strawberry shortcake!

Also, I now tumbl and have a SmugMug (at least until they start charging me).

Lovies,

More Than I Can Chew

Baylor parking sucks.

Not only do I have to get to campus 30 minutes early, but when I do get there super early, there is only one parking spot, which a truck speeds ahead of me to get. Thanks, jerk. Then, after trying to follow two people to their cars like a psycho car-stalker only to have them stolen from me by two other jerks (just because you are in your car does NOT mean you can ignore the code of chivalry. I CAN STILL SEE YOU). Then I finally find a spot that just opened and no one has taken it because it is in compact parking between two SUVs (in compact parking) which have each parked on the yellow line. I had to CLIMB OVER MY CAR to get out. I forgot to consider getting back in until the end of class. I thought I was going to have to climb in through the trunk, and go through that little whole behind the middle seat. Luckily, I could climb back over....

Why don't you take the bus next time?

I wish. I have to go from class to work and don't have time to take the bus...

Bike?

A viable option, except I need a basket for my lunch and I can't be all sweaty and nasty at work....And what if it rains?

I might take the bus anyway and risk being late, just to see. Because when I got to class, the lights weren't even on yet, that's how early I was. This is ridiculous. Last week, I parked in 45 minute Starbucks parking but the parking nazi was leaning on the back of his car just waiting to catch people! I showed him; I went into Starbucks and straight out the back door, all the way around. I didn't get a ticket, but I bet that doesn't work twice....

But on a happier note, I went dancing last weekend with Desnekka and her hubby, as well as his best friend, Spencer. We went to a country western place, which isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I'm not picky, I just want to get out and do something. It wasn't that bad, my two-stepping is getting better.... I can tell, because Spencer hasn't killed me yet. I think he gave up on trying to turn me, and just picked me up to do it. I thought it was fun, until I caught on. But then I got better at turning lol. No one else asked me to dance, except for a 60 something year old man...and not like aww dance with the grandpa! kinda situation. But it was still a lot of fun!

Tuesday: Swing dancing!!!
