NUTELLA
Ahh first day of classes. Missed my bus, still made it to class on time. Avoided the sprinklers that were still aimed at the sidewalk. Lost my phone, found my phone. Meal plan didn't go through, but I got lunch anyway. All in 100-113 degrees, but nothing can faze me, I'm invincible!
Spanish, boring; Fitness, yay working out twice a week with a heart rate monitor; Art history, thank goodness I have a friend in there for three hours AND it's only once a week.
Tomorrow, 8 AM Design Methods where we THINK about graphic design, but at least I like my teacher. Then, after three hours of that, three hours of figure drawing, then three hours of oil painting... at least that will be short tomorrow.
But I am refusing to give up my summer! I had SO much fun.
Desnekka was so awesome and let me come over after work and hang out a lot. We went roller blading, which I haven't done since I moved from Denton! It was very fun. We also played a lot of board games, including Mancala, which no one else plays with me lol. And we had an interesting sleep over party that included her husband and his best friend, Spencer, and a few other games, all of which will forever remain a secret. Ha. I also got to see Avery, the cutest baby EVER! Who is now 1 year old! And probably still covered in cake from her birthday last Sunday.
I also had a pool party and got to see some people I hadn't seen in a summer or two! Jessica and Heather came, along with their boyfriends, Mike, and Keith (who I knew from senior year), as well as Jenni, Desnekka and Avery. It was nice to catch up and hang out. Jessica and I worked near each other and got to have lunch twice :)
I ran. A lot. With my darling puppies! They enjoyed it for a mile or two. Once, Daisy just laid down. In the middle of running. But most of the time we made it all the way around the neighborhood (3-4 miles? so 6-8 total? sweeeeeeeet), and went straight to the swimming pool as soon as we got back. Which, with two crazy dogs is even harder than the jogging. So I got more of a work out fighting those suckers off and keeping myself from drowning. And that meant I got more tan than I have ever been in my life! The running and the swimming also led to me losing some weight. I am pretty impressed with myself for all that.
Then for Heather's birthday I was invited to go with Jessica and Mike to College Station, which I did. And... I went dancing! At clubs and bars. ME. That's right, I danced! It was awesome, so much fun! I mean, I did a lot of sitting too, but I was still having fun. And I got to wear my new dress I got from Forever XXI (thank you, Mimi, for the birthday gift card, thanks XXI for the 2 gift cards and 10% off coupon, and thank you The Woodlands Mall for the $10 birthday card - and I still have $6 left after the dress and two shirts!) AND I had zero to drink. Except a sip of whatever Heather (yeah, that same Heather!) had.
And of course I worked at Anadarko! I made the logos for my dad's group's golf tournament, so I'll get a shirt with my logo stitched on! And I got to play around with an awesome 3D program! AND I got asked back for Christmas break already!!
AND my professor from my two classes this summer recommended me for a paid internship at a company's Waco location! They liked my portfolio and asked me to apply. I'm just waiting on them to set up an interview now.... It doesn't sound as fun as Anadarko, but it will be excellent for my resume and in addition to doing some work I like, I will also learn a TON. So even if my classes aren't the most thrilling, I'm still looking forward to this semester.
While at the same time, refusing to give up the summer completely. Because we (Dee, Jenni, Katy, Hannah, Mahveen, Paige, Janis, and Lucille - my camera) are all going to Lake Waco for a picnic and some beach fun this Saturday! I refuse to give up my tan now that we have found each other.
1) Remember when she said she might come visit (it pains me to use this term when I refer to) Texas in August? I have good news for her! It's August. Now where's my good news? (Emphasis on the word good.)
2) How have her classes been? What was she even taking?
3) How has her summer been? What does she do outside of work and school?
4) Boys. I know there's at least one.
5) What she thinks about the new Avatar stuff. Let's start with the movie.
6) Psych? Leverage? Meg from Veronica Mars taking over the world, one of my favorite shows at a time?
7) That she's going to come visit me at Baylor soon because I've been to (freakin' far away, high in the sky, in a bowl, surrouned by year-round snow-capped mountains) Provo, what is it, three times now? and she's been to Baylor...once? So that we can go tortilla tossing, to brunch, to church-with-me-for-once-'cause-she's-never-been-but-I've-been-to-SEMINARY-with-her-in-Magnolia-and-several-times-to-Sunday-church-in-Utah-and-I-think-I-might-know-more-about-their-church-hierarchy-than-I-do-my-own, so we can see an old movie for .50c, meet crazies in the library again (never fails to be entertaining), sneak into the Draper attic and have a campout, swim my in my apartment's dangerous two-and-a-half foot deep pool (we should invest in floaties), to have an old fashion, sleeping-bag-Disney-movie-sleepover, to name a few.
8) That we should skype (once I fix my computer...)
9) The size of the new monitor she got.
10) Her plan for after graduation!
Things I Should Tell My Bestie:
0) She should tell me these things by phone! I miss her voice.
.5) That's 0 and this is .5 because I'm too lazy to renumber. Again.
1) She's the only one who sometimes reads my blog, so I can pull stunts like this. Look out!
2) Suessland (because, um, hello?)
4) She told me that she didn't use the email I used to send her stuff on, and to send it to a different email. I tired that, I don't think it worked (I just got confirmation that it did work!)
5) About Katy's wedding.
6) About Desnekka's baby!!!
7) Maybe about the unmentionable goatee...thing... if I'm feeling up to it and manage to keep all the laughter that's going on in my head just thinking about it quiet so the people at work don't call the men in white coats (oh man, if they have comical goatees too, I'm so screwed) to carry me off to a nice, safe, rubber room where they have nuts. Nuts? I like nuts. They make me crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a padded room. I liked it there; I died there. They buried me; the flowers grew. One grew up, one grew down. One tickled my toes - it drove me nuts. I seriously forgot what I was saying. I remembered: Yes, I'm writing this at work. But I wrote it at lunch (at least, that's when I started...)!
8) I bet she was wondering where 3) went. It's up next.
3) I LOVE HER!
9) And the numbering for this is why I don't do math.
10) That I just got a post from her on Facebook :) and I remembered the rest of number 7!
